Anissa kermiche

Jewelery designer and sculptor

@anissakermiche

The Franco-Algerian designer studied engineering and worked in consulting in Paris before her career took a sudden turn. Feeling unsatisfied with her creativity, Kermiche packed her bags and moved to London to study jewelry design at Central Saint Martins, launching her eponymous brand after graduating. Her brand quickly gained a cult following, and her gorgeous jewelry and her famous Insta nude vases and pitchers can now be spotted on and in the homes of upscale influencers around the world, including Pernille Teisbaeck and Repeller manLeandra Medina Choen.

Your designs are a celebration of women. Why is this an important part of your brand?

Wearing jewelry is the most feminine statement there is, because it is, in a way, completely unnecessary. Clothing and shoes have a function; jewelry is frivolous. When it came time to build my brand after spending so many years working in areas that weren’t right for me, I felt liberated. It was time to make my brand as feminine and bold as possible. Being a designer for my own brand and not for someone else’s brand allows me to design at my own pace and make all the creative decisions I want in terms of branding.

How has your personal style evolved?

People say 30 and 35 are the same, but in my case I feel like a different person and want to dress differently. At 30, I finished Central Saint Martins and had no idea what my future would look like. I would always dress to impress the opposite sex, or wear some pretty extravagant pieces to convince myself or others that there was something cool about me. It was probably because I hadn’t yet accomplished what I wanted creatively, and I expressed it through bold, loud outfits. With age, clothes have become a comfortable envelope that I feel myself in, not an armor that tries to prove something.

Which items are always worth investing in?

Coats – we are in London; we wear them eight months a year. I bought a Roksanda cashmere coat last year and couldn’t sleep for a few days wondering if this was a crazy idea as it cost an arm and a leg. I don’t regret it, it looks spectacular and motivates me to work harder as it’s hard to go back to a lower quality after owning such a wonderful piece.

Solange Franklin

Editorial stylist and celebrity

@solangefranklin

The New York-based stylist, writer and brand consultant was pre-medical at Midwestern University in the United States when she began interning in fashion publications. A much-coveted Assistant Stylist position with Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert landed her a position in the industry, and Solange then served three years at the helm of Paper Magazine as Fashion Editor-in-Chief. She now divides her time between editorial and celebrity style, with clients such as Solange Knowles, Serena Williams and Susan Sarandon, to name a few.

2020 has been a year of great change. Has your approach to fashion changed?

My beliefs have deepened as the stakes for those we support with our hard-earned money are more urgent. And why? Intention, intention, intention. I want the purchases to make environmental and financial sense. I also still believe that dressing for joy and escape is just as important as shopping for comfort.

How does your wardrobe reflect your values?

It’s mostly vintage, designed by people of color or in my closet for quite some time.

Describe your perfect outfit …

Something with texture and color that can be accomplished in one step, like a dress or jumpsuit.

Which items are always worth investing in?

Jewelry, chic apartments and pieces from independent designers.

What role does fashion play in today’s world and how can it be a force for good?

There is a huge capacity, and therefore a responsibility, for the entire industry to use its influence for good. We touch all sectors of humanity and consumption: the environment, racism, gender parity, entertainment. Even tackling one of these verticals influences the others, for a more equitable and joyful life.

Complete the sentence “Fashion opens the doors to a world of …”

… informed agency. Whether we specifically use fashion for dreaming, community support, or political messaging, it’s a clear vocabulary that we can control.

Lainy Hedaya Hoffstein

Creative consultant

@lainyhedaya

After studying visual merchandising and store design at university, the New York designer launched her fashion blog High inhabit in 2011 as a hobby that quickly developed into a flourishing career path. The style influencer and entrepreneur now has a loyal following on Instagram, monetizing her platform through brand partnerships, art commissions and, most recently, personal shopping services.

How does your design background influence your wardrobe?

My tailor always jokes “you give me the most complicated things to fix.” The pieces that I sometimes invest in are very intricate and so beautifully draped and intricate that they are a difficult solution … in short, when I see something and it seems difficult to do, I want to.

You have a lot of experience in the fashion industry; What’s the best piece of advice you took along the way?

You really don’t have to have a lot of clothes… but quality pieces are better. I grew up with a little edited closet, then in college I thought I needed it all. Finally, with maturity, I realized that less is more and that the quality is better.

Congratulations on your son. How, if at all, has your style changed since you became a mother?

It just became a lot more relaxed. A skin-tight leather Margiela jacket with heels doesn’t really work for chasing a toddler, which involves a lot of bending over and picking up, not to mention all the food stains. I got into a good flow, I think. I had never really invested in the basics of the beautiful day before; now that’s all i buy.

How do you support sustainable fashion?

I buy from many smaller brands – I actually prefer it. FARFETCH is great in this regard because you have access to those globally.

FARFETCH opens doors to the world’s largest selection of desirable brands, emerging designers and over 700 stores. Learn more about Farfetch.com/uk

One important advantage is the speed at which information is sent and received. With the help of the internet, the shopping habits of many persons have drastically changed. The car insurance industry hasn't remained untouched by these changes. On the internet, drivers can compare insurance prices and find out which sellers have the best offers. View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price.
