Gurkha fighting veteran British Covid army in Nepal – BBC News

Covid has reached the farthest reaches of Nepal – including the mountain village of Barpak, home to many British Army Gurkha veterans and their families. They have been recruiting Gurkha soldiers directly from Nepal for more than 200 years to fight for the British army. The UK’s Gurkha Welfare Trust, which supports veterans and their families, estimates that more than 20,000 veterans and widows live in Nepal. The 58 deaths caused by Covide have been reported.
