Only 12 new COVID-19 cases reported in the Waterloo region on Tuesday
Waterloo Public Health has reported less than 20 new cases in the region for the second time this year.
On Tuesday, it announced 12 new positive tests for coronavirus, consistent with the number of news COVID cases reported by the authorities on July 6. Currently, there are 18,211 cases in this area.
The number on Tuesday will reduce the 7-day moving average of the new daily cases in the region to 21.9.
Last Tuesday’s average was 36.6, but a month ago it was 58.1.
Waterloo Public Health also reported new COVID-19-related deaths on Tuesday, increasing deaths in the region to 281, including 16 in July.
“Today we are reporting one death in our community in connection with COVID-19. The individual was a man in his fifties. Medical officer Dr. Hsiu-Li Wang said,” I would like to express my deep sympathy for my family and personal loved ones. “
An additional 38 people were removed from the virus, increasing the total number of cases resolved in the area to 17,756.
This leaves 164 active COVID-19 cases in the region, more than 100 less than the 279 reported last Tuesday.
The number of COVID-19 patients in local hospitals has dropped to 23, 13 of whom are currently in need of intensive care. They were the same numbers reported two days ago, but rose to 27 and 16 on Monday.
The Grand River Hospital ICU is one of the three new COVID-19 outbreaks in the area, with the other outbreaks occurring in trade.
There are currently 12 in this area, as one was also declared in the aggregate settings.
Conversely, the COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Task Force in the region reports 708,992 vaccinations in the region, 5,193 more than the vaccine reported on Monday.
According to the agency, 303,118 people are currently fully vaccinated, 5,193 more than the day before.
