Vanderburgh County COVID cases are reduced by 6.6%.Indiana Incident Update
The number of new coronavirus cases surged in India during the week ending Sunday, with 3,101 reported cases, an increase of 32.6%. Last week there were 2,338 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19.
Indiana ranks 25th among the fastest per capita spreads of the coronavirus, according to a USA TODAY network analysis of Johns Hopkins University data. Last week, cases of coronavirus in the United States increased by 66% from the previous week, with 226,012 cases reported. With 2.02% of the country’s population, Indiana had 1.37% of the country’s case last week. Nationwide, 50 states had more cases in the most recent week than in the previous week.

Vanderburgh County reported 114 cases and two deaths last week. A week ago, 122 cases and 2 deaths were reported. Through the pandemic, 22,907 cases and 404 deaths have been reported.
Warrick County reported 45 cases and 0 deaths last week. A week ago, it reported 26 cases and zero deaths. Through the pandemic, 7,959 cases and 157 deaths have been reported.
Posey County reported 16 cases and 0 deaths last week. A week ago, it reported nine cases and zero deaths. Through the pandemic, 2,781 cases and 35 deaths have been reported.
Gibson County reported 49 cases and 0 deaths last week. A week ago, 37 cases and 0 deaths were reported. Throughout the pandemic, 4,565 cases and 96 deaths have been reported.

Dubois County reported 10 cases and 0 deaths last week. A week ago, it reported four cases and zero deaths. Through the pandemic, 6,242 cases and 118 deaths have been reported.
Spencer County reported 9 cases and 0 deaths last week. A week ago, it reported two cases and zero deaths. Through the pandemic, 2,357 cases and 31 deaths have been reported.
Within Indiana, the worst weekly outbreaks per capita occurred in the Gibson, Crawford, and Noble counties. Marion County added the newest cases overall, with 438 cases. Allen County, 274 cases. Weekly cases increased in 65 counties from the previous week. The worst increase from last week’s pace was in the Marion, Allen, and Madison counties.

Indiana ranks 38th in the state with at least one vaccination, with 46.2% of its population vaccinated at least partially. The national percentage is 56%, as shown by USA TODAY analysis of CDC data. The most used Pfizer and Modana vaccines in the United States should be given twice at intervals of several weeks.
In the week ending Sunday, Indiana reported 55,514 vaccinations, including 27,018 initial doses. Last week, the state received 51,980 vaccinations, including 22,251 initial doses. Overall, Indiana reported a total of 5,952,786 doses.
Throughout Indiana, cases decreased in 25 counties, most in lakes, porters, and fountain counties.
In Indiana, 26 people were reported dead from COVID-19 during the week ending Sunday. The week before that, 51 people were reported dead.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 760,163 people have been coronavirus-positive and 13,940 have died from the disease in Indiana, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. In the United States, 34,079,960 people are positive and 609,019 are dead.
