“We anticipate a disease that will spread from southwestern Missouri to the east, following Interstate Highway 44,” the recommendation said.
Last week, the leader of the St. Louis Metropolitan Pandemic Task Force said case rates were beginning to be seen in the region. Similar to what’s happening in southwestern Missouri..
“At this point, there is no evidence that a different trajectory (from southwestern Missouri) could be seen unless we take positive action,” said Dr. Clay Dunagan, who is taking over the briefing. Said. Garza is deployed in Kuwait.
Although some counties in the St. Louis region have relatively high vaccination rates compared to the surrounding area, all counties are far from 70% of the total population required for herd immunity, Dr. Dunagan said.
Percentage of people who have completed vaccination in the St. Louis area:
- St. Louis County: 44.6%
- St. Charles County: 44.2%
- Franklin County: 40.2%
- Gasconade County: 37.3%
- City of St. Louis: 34.8%
- You are Genevieve 32%
- Jefferson County: 30.9%
- Warren County: 30.7%
- St. Francois: 30.4%
- Lincoln County: 25.9%
- Washington County: 21.7
Even higher immunization counties such as St. Louis and St. Charles counties still have communities in these counties that can be vulnerable due to low immunization rates.
“For example, in St. Louis County, vaccination rates range from 80% or 90% at the highest points. In the lowest areas, vaccination rates are very similar to what happened in some areas. It’s declining. A county in southwestern Missouri. ” “And for that reason, those areas can be expected to see their spikes outside the state in the incidents experienced by our fellow citizens.”
