UK sends 50,000 coronavirus test samples to US after problems with lab network
Due to system delays due to “operational issues” in the lab network, approximately 50,000 coronavirus test samples had to be sent from the UK to the US.
The news came out because the number of daily coronavirus tests fell below Matt Hancock’s 100,000 health target for seven consecutive days.

“If we run into problems, we’re having contingencies like adding extra capacity for labs or sending swabs to partner labs abroad to complete.
“Of course, our partner labs must meet our high standards.”
There are 1,728,443 tests on May 9th at 9am and 96,878 tests on May 8th.
1,270,408 were tested, of which 215,260 were positive.

The Sunday Telegraph reported that the sample was air chartered to the United States from Stansted Airport.
Previously, daily Downing Street Briefings confirmed that 96,878 tests were performed 24 hours a day until 9am Saturday.
