AMDA Emergency Relief #1: Haiti earthquake (August 16, 2021) – Haiti

In response to the earthquake that struck Haiti on the morning of August 14, AMDA Haiti will launch emergency relief on Tuesday, August 17.

Mag Destroyer. The 7.2 earthquake struck the western part of the Central American country, killing 304 people, and injuring at least 1,800 people. More than 1,000 buildings, including homes, schools and medical facilities, have been toppled, media said.

AMDA headquarters received a call for assistance from AMDA President Haiti Dr. McKevin Frederick immediately after the earthquake. As a result, it was decided that AMDA Haiti would send a team of medical personnel to the affected areas on the morning of the 17th. The team consisting of two doctors, a nurse, a medical student and a coordinator will go to Jeremy in the Grand’Anse department, one of the hardest-hit areas.

The team will also carry out relief activities along the route in several locations where the scale of the damage appears to be widespread.

In the past, AMDA also conducted emergency relief operations in Jeremy at the time of 2016 Hurricane Matthew.
