Emotional tribute from hospital staff to popular nurses and parents who died of coronavirus

NHS staff lined the streets to give emotional rewards to the “dedicated” front-line nurse and his parents, all of whom died of the coronavirus.

As the audience carrying Keith Dunnington and his parents passed by, hundreds (mainly medical staff) gathered outside the South Tyneside District Hospital and were applauded.

Keith was a nurse Gateshead Queen Elizabeth Hospital in London died on April 19 after supporting the NHS’s frontline in the fight against Covid-19.

His mother, Lillian (81), and father, Maurice (85), also died after leaving the hospital after being infected with the virus.

Prior to the joint funeral on Saturday morning, paramedics, including doctors, nurses and firefighters, temporarily left their posts to honor the family.

We saw hundreds of people lining John Reed Road, adhering to social distance guidelines to pay respect.

The South Shields crematorium provided services limited to direct families.

A Keith colleague has previously described 54 years old South ShieldsAs a “selfless, hardworking and devoted” man.

Yvonne Ormstone, CEO of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust, said:

“Keith was a popular hardworking member of our excellent nursing team. He is very lonely to his colleague here in trust and the patients he cared for.”

The trust said the two fathers were “the majority of the QE family,” but he was employed by the nursing agency Pulse Jobs.

“This time his favor was really outstanding. He cracked the jokes and asked how he was dealing.

“He spoke very positively about him and his family last year and his colleague at Gateshead, who had the opportunity to work regularly last year. He would be very lonely.”
