Uber and Lyft to Provide Funding for Drivers Affected by Coronavirus

Carpool companies Uber and Lyft will compensate drivers affected by quarantines of coronavirus, according to several reports.

In a statement to Internal of the business community A Uber spokesman said on Friday that drivers diagnosed with the virus or otherwise affected by coronavirus quarantines could receive compensation up to 14 days to make up for lost income.

A note sent by Uber representatives to the drivers said that the compensation system had been implemented in certain markets and was on the way to global deployment.

A Lyft spokesperson added at Reuters The company was paying similar compensation on Sunday, although details on how long the funds will be available were not immediately available.

Reuters also said the delivery companies DoorDash and Instacart are currently discussing compensation for their drivers.
