Barry J. West, 76, died from Letitz on May 16, 2020.

The son of the late Arthur, Josephine O’Connor West, and Rebecca’s husband Stover Snafili West, have been married for 26 years.

Owner-operator of Commoncents Courier, retired in 2018.

Barry attended Brunnerville United Methodist Church and was a 1962 graduate from Lancaster Catholic High School. He worked for Watt & Shand selling pre-enlisted women’s shoes to the United States Air Force and was stationed in Alaska during the 1964 Great Alaska earthquake and tsunami.

Attended Millersville College, assisted adults with intellectual disabilities at EARS, Inc. Barry enjoyed being a judo instructor, earning a 3rd degree brown belt. He liked to play guitar and sing. Win many karaoke competitions. Straight 8’s APA rally team won the 2018 regional championship and gave them a slot at the Las Vegas 8 World Championships.

As a permanent member of the American Legion Post 56 in Lititz, Barry worked for several years as an assistant, and led the pledge of loyalty on Memorial Day. He has participated in the commemorative plaque to honor POW / MIA’s WWI and WWII.

Barry and Becky enjoy traveling to Snowshoe, West Virginia and New England and spending time with family.

His family would greatly miss Barry, including three sons: Doug (Donna) Snafili, Dan (Lisa) Snafili, and David (Laura) Snafili each Lititz, including six grandchildren and two of their grandchildren; Five daughters, eight sons, and many nephews and nieces. Three brothers, William, Richard and Donald, died.

A celebration of life will be held later.
