French Coronavirus Case Shows Lowest 24 Hours Rise Since Blockade
Paris (Reuters) -The number of new coronavirus infections confirmed in France increased by 115 (0.1%) on Sunday to 144,921.
However, the number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19, a disease caused by the coronavirus, has declined since April 15 without interruption daily, increasing by 7 to 17,185.
A Welfare official said hospitals were slow to report data due to long weekends in Ascension in France, and people were staying in the hospital for a little longer.
The number of people in the intensive care unit has continued to decrease uninterrupted over the past 6 weeks, down 10% (0.6%) to 1,655. This was the most modest decline since 7,148 people had received intensive care since the peak of the crisis, April 8.

Laurent Toubiana, an epidemiologist at the IRSAN Health Data Institute, said coronaviruses may not recur, unlike previous pandemics like the 1918 Spanish flu.
“If we don’t see a rapid revival of the epidemic, we could take a few weeks off, and then we’ll see it,” he said on the BFM news channel.
The Ministry of Health did not publish mortality statistics or data on possible cases. The data will be updated Monday.
