Another crop at Ottawa Elementary School placed in the outbreak of COVID-19-Ottawa
COVID-19 (new coronavirus infection) As of Thursday, outbreaks were declared at four more Ottawa Elementary Schools. This is because some of the city’s most vulnerable residents are preparing for a mass vaccination campaign starting Friday.
The latest COVID-19 update from Ottawa Public Health shows that there are currently 36 active outbreaks in the city, 21 of which are affecting local primary schools.
Among the new schools facing outbreaks this week is the Orleans Chapel Hill Catholic School, where 11 students have been tested positive for the virus so far. According to a notice on the Chapel Hill website, OPH has chosen to close the school on Wednesday to study directly because of the outbreak.
According to the OPH dashboard, other schools with ongoing outbreaks of more than 10 COVID-19 cases are the Holy Family and Sir Winston Churchill.
Dr. Vera Etches, a medical officer in Ottawa Said there was a “significant increase” on Wednesday In recent primary school outbreaks, transmission between siblings at home affects each cohort of schools.
“This is the least immunized population and the place with the most outbreaks,” she told reporters Wednesday.
Vaccinations for children aged 5 to 11 will begin on Friday in Ottawa, with over 27,000 initial dose appointments for this cohort during the first 24 hours of qualification.

Meanwhile, OPH reported 42 new virus cases on Thursday.
One more person died in connection with COVID-19, and the city’s death toll from the pandemic increased to 617.
Currently, there are 13 COVID-19 inpatients in Ottawa, but none in the intensive care unit.
As of Thursday, the number of active cases in the city was stable at 304.
