First local case of Omicron mutant detected in Yolo County
According to Yolo County authorities, the first known regional case of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 was detected in West Sacramento.
This variant was recently discovered in an adult in West Sacramento who traveled the United States and was vaccinated with COVID-19. The person, who was tested on December 2, experienced mild symptoms and is now isolated, according to Yolo County spokesman John Fout.
“There was immediate contact tracing, but there was no other positive confirmation,” Fout said.
Health officials in Yolo County said vaccinated people should be tested 1-3 days before and 3-5 days after travel.
