Boris Johnson Bows Over Difficult Questions About Gender Equality In Government

Boris Johnson was unable to say how many women in the highest positions would be enough to ensure adequate gender representation when he was burned out by Conservative colleagues on equality in cabinet, during a tense hearing of the liaison committee.

He said he believed there were enough women to help make decisions about the coronavirus, and that having women in the room made a huge difference in the nature of the decisions made. I recognize that this may sound like a vaguely sexist thing to say, but it is very important, said Mr. Johnson.

Caroline Nokes, Chair of the Women and Equality Committee, asked who the PM had given her opinion on reopening schools at the same time as the retail sector, where she said that 60% of employees were women and how the move could affect the availability of child care.

Mr. Johnson said: I think your question, Caroline, is whether or not we have enough female representation at the top of government to help us inform these decisions, and I really think we have.

The number 10 chief of policy is Munira Mirza, the electoral manifesto we both successfully fought for was written by two women and the most important appointments we have made in recent weeks … have also been women.

After two more questions about the role of equality experts in government decision-making, Ms. Nokes asked Mr. Johnson: You made the distinction between there are many women and enough women, how many this enough?

The Prime Minister, seeming to realize that he had been snooked, is heard saying Oh boy and laughing nervously, before recovering and adding: This is a question on which I am not competent to pronounce. One of the other Members present at the virtual hearing was also heard to laugh briefly in response to the targeted questioning.

Ms. Nokes went on to ask: Is it not 50%? before Sir Bernard Jenkin, the chair of the committee, told the Prime Minister that gender equality was not a joke.

This is not the case, the Prime Minister quickly accepted. All I’m saying, Caroline, is that it’s extremely important to us as conservatives and that we have more than 50 percent would be great, we have a large number of women MPs of great talent, including you – even in the House of Commons now, believe, and never forget, its only Conservative party that produced two women prime ministers.

Let’s not start with all of this, said Sir Bernard. Better not, said Ms. Nokes, who discovered that she had been sacked as Minister of Immigration by Mr. Johnson in 2019 when a reporter tweeted the news.

What Are The Main Benefits Of Comparing Car Insurance Quotes Online

LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / June 24, 2020, / Compare-autoinsurance.Org has launched a new blog post that presents the main benefits of comparing multiple car insurance quotes. For more info and free online quotes, please visit https://compare-autoinsurance.Org/the-advantages-of-comparing-prices-with-car-insurance-quotes-online/ The modern society has numerous technological advantages. One important advantage is the speed at which information is sent and received. With the help of the internet, the shopping habits of many persons have drastically changed. The car insurance industry hasn't remained untouched by these changes. On the internet, drivers can compare insurance prices and find out which sellers have the best offers. View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier. For additional info, money-saving tips, and free car insurance quotes, visit https://compare-autoinsurance.Org/ Compare-autoinsurance.Org is an online provider of life, home, health, and auto insurance quotes.
