Prime Minister Imran Khan said COVID-19 was a global problem and that global efforts were needed to address it.

He addressed the United Nations high-level virtual event on financing for development in the COVID-19 era and beyond today.

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan had imposed a lockdown to limit social contact in its attempt to protect the population from coronaviruses. However, this created another challenge of providing a livelihood for people to save them from hunger.

The government has given a $ 8 billion stimulus package to provide financial assistance for daily betting and low-income people, despite its limited resources.

The package was meager compared to the huge stimulus packages given by their populations to the populations of the United States, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom and other developed countries.

Imran Khan said that the money that was to be spent on climate change and development programs has been diverted to the corona pandemic.

He said he spoke to the leaders of Ethiopia, Nigeria and Egypt to find out that all were facing similar problems.

The Prime Minister has said that the coronavirus has left a bad mark on the world economy and that Pakistan is not immune to it either. He said that our country’s exports were severely affected due to weak global demand.

He appreciated the measures taken by the G20 countries to reduce the debt of developing countries.
