Googins steps down as W-H • Whitman-Hanson Express male hockey coach
Whitman-Hanson Regional High is looking for a male hockey coach.
After the programs have run smoothly for at least 15 years, Whitman-Hanson Regional High Boys hockey coach Chris Googins has resigned.
It’s a huge loss for our school, but I understand, said W-H sports director Bob rodgers. Chris is not only a great coach, but an even better father. His youngest son plays college hockey and he just didn’t want to miss the opportunity to share this trip with him.
Googins served six seasons as a male hockey coach in the early 2000s before leaving to assume head coaching responsibilities at Framingham State University. He returned to W-H in 2016, when the Panthers skated for a one-win campaign. Last season, they won 17 games and earned a spot in the division. 2 southern semi-finals.
Coach Googins hit all the basics as a high school coach, said Rodgers. He taught his players much more than hockey and in his last lesson to the boys, he showed them that family is always first. We are fortunate that he remains with our school in its current teaching position.
