Crawford County reported five more COVID-19 cases this week
In Ohio, there was a surge of new coronavirus cases during the week ending Sunday, with 6,890 reported cases, an increase of 43.3%. Last week there were 4,808 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19.
Ohio ranks 27th among the fastest-spreading states of the coronavirus per capita, according to USA TODAY network analysis of Johns Hopkins University data. Last week, cases of coronavirus in the United States increased by 57.1% from the previous week, and 351,599 cases were reported. With 3.51% of the country’s population, Ohio had 1.96% of the country’s case last week. Nationwide, 42 states had more cases in the most recent week than in the previous week.
Crawford County reported 5 cases and 0 deaths last week. A week ago, it reported four cases and zero deaths. Through the pandemic, 11,186 cases and 214 deaths have been reported.
Within Ohio, the worst weekly outbreak per person was in Lucas County, with 162 per 100,000 per week. 122 Athens counties. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, high-level community infections start at 100 per 100,000 people per week.
Overall, the newest case was added to 1,128 cases in Kaiyahoga County. Franklin County, 948 cases. Lucas County was 694. Weekly cases increased in 68 counties from the previous week. The worst increase from the pace last week was in the Kaiyahoga, Franklin and Hamilton counties.

Ohio ranks 43rd in the state in terms of the percentage of people who have been vaccinated at least once, with 63.5% of the population being vaccinated at least partially. The national percentage is 77.5%, as shown by USA TODAY analysis of CDC data. The most used Pfizer and Moderna vaccines in the United States should be given twice at intervals of several weeks.
In the week ending Sunday, Ohio reported 93,961 vaccinations, including 7,739 initial doses. Last week, the state received 110,760 vaccinations, including 8,313 initial doses. Overall, Ohio reported a total dose of 17,763,093 doses.
Throughout Ohio, cases decreased in 19 counties, the most in Butler County, from 169 cases a week ago to 124 cases. In Lucas County, there were 713 to 694 cases. In Logan County, there were 10 out of 17 cases.
In Ohio, 94 people were reported dead from COVID-19 during the week ending Sunday. The week before that, Zero people were reported dead.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 2,688,327 people have been positive for the coronavirus and 38,360 have died from the disease in Ohio, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. In the United States, 80,984,914 are positive and 991,254 have died.
