Both online bullying and its victims can develop PTSD
Tuesday 23 June 2020 (HealthDay News)-Both online bullying and its victims may suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), according to a new British study.
Online bullying is online bullying, not actual bullying. The researchers said it was so widespread that pediatricians needed to regularly ask patients about it as part of their psychological evaluation.
“Parents, teachers, and health professionals need to be aware of the possible symptoms of PTSD in young people involved in online bullying,” said study author Anapascu al Sanchez. She works in the Department of Psychiatry at Imperial College London.
Researchers have estimated that teenagers’ online bullying ranges from 10% to 40%. They say they can do it anonymously day or night, which poses a special risk, they said.
For the study, Pascual Sanchez and her team collected more than 2,200 data from 11 to 19 years old from four London schools surveyed for experience.
According to the survey, 46% had a history of all kinds of bullying and 17% were victims. 12% were perpetrators. And 4% were both.
Researchers pointed out that traditional bullying was more common than online bullying.
Still, about 13% of teens were being bullied online. 8.5% were bullying other users online. And 4% were both victims and perpetrators.
About 16% of children were bullied directly. 12% were directly bullying others. According to researchers, 7% were both victims and perpetrators.
There were some overlaps in the types of bullying.
About 1,500 children completed the PTSD assessment screening for intrusive thinking and avoidance behavior. Researchers found that those who were victims of online bullying had symptoms of PTSD (35%), compared to 29% of those who were online bullies and 28% of those who were both bullies and online bullies. I have found that there is a high probability.
Researchers said that this study cannot prove that bullying causes PTSD, they only appear to be related.
The report was published online in the journal on June 23 Childhood Illness Archive..
“Although online bullying is less frequent than traditional bullying, it’s worth noting that over a third of bullies weren’t involved in traditional bullying. [as both victim and perpetrator]The authors said in a journal news release.
“This suggests that the anonymity offered online to perpetrators may constitute a new platform for bullying to occur,” they added.

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price.
