Florence’s concert and instrument apparently caused an earthquake

A concert at Florence + The Machine (AKA Florence Welch) in Berlin recorded a severe tremor the size of a small earthquake. Remind me to wear my most comfortable and stable shoe when traveling downhill.

Florence was playing at the Tempelhof Sounds Festival in Berlin earlier this week. The festival takes place in the deserted Tempelhof Airport and sounds sick in word.

Oh, to be at a summer festival in Berlin, totally enjoy Florence + The Machine at home.

At around 9pm, party attendees reported feeling “shakes” according to German publication rbbl24.

Let’s be honest, if you’re going to a concert at Florence + The Machine, you’ll obviously be throwing in some absolutes. I’ll enthusiastically make my way around the dance floor as soon as “My Love” comes out and I’m not ashamed to say it.

According to rbbl24, three different special seismic stations recorded the dancing earthquake, which had a magnitude of about 1.4 on the Richter scale. People who live in the area have also reported tremors. The Florence effect, really.

Data analyst Jens Skapski spoke to the publication, noting that Berlin does not usually experience earthquakes, so the magnitude of the earthquake was quite unusual.

“It’s the equivalent of a small earthquake,” Skapsky said.

“A natural earthquake would be shorter and with higher frequency.”

UPROXX came to the point where Florence + The Machine was in the static menu during the earthquake.

Apparently she was going to perform either “Dogs Days Are Over” or “Free” – two bands that simply depend on you dancing with arms flailing and feet hanging off.

Honestly, I dare you to listen to any of those songs without going too hard. It is simply impossible.

Indeed, Florence + Machine refers to the occasional earthquake in every way. In the Insta story she filmed articles about the “earthquake” and commented “whoops.”

Look, you know your music is 10/10 certified if people jump into it with enough enthusiasm to make an earthquake. That’s all I will say.

It’s an even more intense version of what happened when the floor of the Enmore Theater at the Genesis Owusu concert collapsed during incredibly rainy Sydney weather.

Let’s just hope our venues cement their floorboards before Florence tours Australia in 2023.
