Southwest Center provides healthcare access to the LGBTQ community

Although HIV infection has declined overall, the virus continues to disproportionately affect communities left out of society.

As a result, Phoenix’s Southwest Center has expanded the range of health care it offers, but continues to focus on helping patients with HIV / AIDS. Monday, June 27 — National HIV Testing Day — The Center hosts a free walk-in HIV testing clinic.

Participants can also be tested for sexually transmitted diseases and COVID-19. Same-day results will be available.

All tests are free.

The Southwest Center was founded over 30 years ago to combat HIV / AIDS. The center has staff health care providers, counseling, nutrition education, social welfare services, and an on-site vitamin shop.

This year, the center has been expanded to provide more services to more people. We can provide health resources to people over the age of 13. Care is provided to everyone, including uninsured and undocumented.

Center leaders say they aim to overcome the stigma and stigma that arises in the healthcare system, especially for those who identify themselves as transgender. The Center has created a gender verification program to help you navigate the coverage of insurance along with changing the name and gender of official documents.
