2022 is indeed a very special year for Ranbir Kapoor. The actor, who married earlier this year followed by an impending paternity announcement, will finally return to the big screen after a four-year hiatus with Bramhastra and Shamshera.

1. Fan (2016)

Any talk of dual roles in Indian cinema in recent years is pointless unless one considers Shah Rukh Khan’s stunning performance in Manish Sharmas Fan. Telling the story of a young man, played by SRK in heavy prostheses, obsessed with a superstar, also played by Shah Rukh, in an almost poetically semi-autobiographical role, this film will go down in the history of Indian cinema as the one of the finest works of meta-genius that seeks to dissect the darkness that fuels the star system in our country. Although the film flopped in the second half due to a convoluted narrative, Shah Rukh Khan’s performance remained strong, lending gravity to a regular psychological thriller.
2. Doom 3 (2013)
Arguably the weakest installment in the Dhoom franchise, this film was made consistently watchable by the electric chemistry between Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif. Aamir, who made his occasional swerve from the annual message-driven dramas with this movie, seemed to have a lot of fun playing a con man and his autistic twin in this stunt-driven action flick. While the climax was an obvious and arguably contrived tip of the hat to Christopher Nolans cult classic Prestige, one continued to stay invested in the narrative due to the sincerity of its main man.
3. Kaminey (2009)
You know a director is worth your money when they extract jaw-dropping turns from the same actor, not once, but three times. If we can only hope for other collaborations between Shahid Kapoor and Vishal Bharadwaj, we must take the time to appreciate the delicious double role played by Shahid in Vishals Kaminey. Shahid Kapoor was by turns vulnerable and broken in his portrayal of Guddu and Charlie in one of his most memorable performances to date.
4. Judwaa (1997)

Salman Khan brought his Govinda-esque maximalism to Judwaa, David Dhawans’ uncredited remake of Jackie Chan’s classic Twin Dragons. The film was a showcase of Salman’s ability to entertain his audience. As twins separated at birth, Salman Khan was an absolute delight to watch as the tapori brother, who, mixed with his boy-next-door good looks and charm, gave us comedy for ages to come.
5. Angoor (1982)

There couldn’t have been a better time to revisit this classic Gulzar comedy than now, as we gear up for another remake of this film this time by none other than Rohit Shetty. Sanjeev Kumar and Deven Verma were absolute boos to watch in this innocent yet heavily written film inspired by William Shakespeares A Comedy of Errors. Angoor, which also stars Deepti Naval, Mousumi Chatterji and Aruna Irani, remains one of the best comedies in Indian cinema.
