Earthquix Reed wins the title at Elk Grove

The Ceres Earthquakes Red 13 and under boys’ competitive soccer team has shown a tremendous amount of growth during the 2022 season.

The Earthquakes achieved their best performance of the year by displaying the first place at the Elk Grove Sunstroke Classic, held August 6-7, at BSP Field House.

“I have a tremendous amount of confidence in this team,” Ceres coach Alfredo Campos said.

The Earthquakes have won all four of their games at Elk Grove.

Ceres kicked out three of his opponents.

The Earthquakes qualified for a 5-2 victory over the Elk Grove 2010 Elite in the Finals on August 7.

Ceres players won individual medals.

“I was shocked,” Campos said. “Not that we won. But the boys managed to maintain the momentum.”

Ceres Lincoln FC led the Blue Kings 3-0 in the semi-finals on August 7th.

Earthquakes defeated Placer United FC 4-0 on August 6.

Ceres opened the tournament with a tough 1-0 victory over Folsom Lake Surf Premier on August 6.

“It set the tone for the rest of the tournament,” Campos said. “We beat the toughest team. The boys gained momentum after that match.”

Ceres has improved to 11-7-1 this season.

The Earthquakes have won seven of their last eight games.

“We have a young team competing against older boys,” Campos said. “They have courage. They believe in our philosophy which is family. We are really united.”

Ceres participated in four of the five tournaments this year.

The Earthquakes placed second in the Silver Cup and third in the Endless Summer Classic and Lemoore Football Festival.

Ceres was winless at the Foothill Classic.

“We lost the first three matches,” Campos said. “The boys went back to training and kept working. You can see her improvement throughout each tournament. They didn’t want to let each other down.”

Ceres’ squad includes 17 players, including Israel Alvarez, Roman Artigas, Julian Campos, Sergio Carrillo, Juan Farias-Galarza, Carlos Martinez, David Martinez, Jose Mendoza Comparan, Thomas Modi, Alonzo Oliveros, Julian Prieto, Sebastian Rivera, Jamesden Robertson, Adriel Rodriguez, Sergio V.
