Monash Table tennis on its way to glory
Over the past few days, our women’s team took on the University of Queensland and came out on top with a 10-1 score. However, our men’s team lost to the University of Sydney with a score of 2-9.
While the competition will be tough for our teams, they are aiming to secure the bronze medal and hopefully take out their arch-rival, the University of Melbourne, in response to the team’s loss in the Big Blue Varsity Challenge earlier this year. .
We spoke to Ellen Walker, who is part of the women’s team, about how our table tennis team stacks up against some of the tournament’s strongest competitors.
“We have tough competition in the coming days because we each play them twice,” said the table tennis player.
When asked about her highlight so far at Unisport Nationals, Walker describes the tremendous encouragement from the men’s and women’s teams as they “supported each other with cheers and coaching”.
Good luck to our table tennis teams competing on Wednesday and Thursday. We are amazed at the amount of hard work that goes into preparing and training our athletes for this competition!
