A five-year-old boy died after swallowing a bulletin board pin late last month.

Friends has now set up a fundraiser for the mourning family of Swallownest in Sheffield, UK.

Kyle Lewis celebrated his fifth birthday just six days before he was taken to Rotherham General Hospital after swallowing a pin, with The Star reporting that he died three times, before being revived again and taken to a specialist hospital where he was placed on life support.

But he died three days later, on October 28, in the arms of his parents, Emma and Mark Lewis, after suffering several seizures and high temperatures.

“I can’t even explain how I feel. I’m broken beyond words. It doesn’t feel real. I don’t want it to feel real. They kept him on life support until we were ready to say goodbye. But you’re never ready, right?” Emma Lewis to star.

Kyle decided it was time after he hugged his mom and dad one last time. He took his last heartbeat as we hugged.

“He was his stepfather. Very sneaky, but cheeky at the same time. His favorite saying was ‘It wasn’t me.’ He loved dinosaurs. We said that instead of growing angel wings, he grew dinosaur wings.”

“People tell me to be strong, it’s not that easy. I lost my son and I can’t think of anything but him at the moment. It’s like I don’t know how to grieve,” Lewis said.

“I don’t know how to feel, I don’t know what to think, I don’t know how to act. I feel like a robot. He broke my heart, but he’s still my boy.”

A fundraiser was set up for the family to “help give (Kyle) the best serve possible”.

“No parent should bury their child and struggle to find the money to do so,” GoFundMe organizer Leah Allen wrote.

“(The family) would like to get something for the girls in memory of their baby/big brother.”
