It was an automatic response from the society in which she lives. If you don’t train people, they will continue to grow up in that kind of society and you won’t get any meaningful change.
Rainford-Brent believes that society should come together and decide on a progressive, positive vision of equality that can bring about fundamental changes.

I still remember the moment I heard about George Floyd. I was in bed, turned on my phone and it was the first thing that came to me [Instagram] story, a short version of the video, she said.
I clicked on it and clicked away as the first words you heard where I can’t breathe. I watched the whole thing, more than eight minutes, and burst into tears, she said.
The pain I felt – it was like opening a valve because we know how long these inequalities, these injustices have been happening, not just in the US, it is happening here. I felt like I was torn apart. I never swear on my Instagram, but I wrote the words, is someone else tired of seeing black people killed?
You can’t see it and it was frustrating that people don’t see what’s going on. I felt broken, it was two weeks of anger, of pain, of talking to many different people who were fed up with the state of our world and were frustrated and that they got gas and said those problems don’t exist. They really do exist.
I knew I had to interfere, I went to three protests. It is a virus that has been part of our society for more than 400 years and this repression continues.
I think that being in a diverse community is one of the most powerful experiences, supporting everyone and knowing that we need to discover this, this needs to be addressed.
We cannot accept that people are murdered day after day by the people who are meant to protect you.

Holding believes that the large number of whites who have taken part in protests in support of the Black Lives Matter movement can help bring about change – and urged people to fully understand what the movement stands for.
Protests years ago, even when Martin Luther King marched, you had mostly black faces and a few white faces. This time, many whites are involved in these protests and that’s the difference, Holding said.
What they saw [happen to George Floyd] was disgusting and people thought they were enough. Everyone recognizes it, comes to life and sees the difference in treatment of people.
We are all human, so I hope people recognize that the Black Lives Matter movement is not trying to get black people over whites or above anyone else. It’s all about equality.
When people say that all lives matter or white lives matter, we black people know that white lives matter. I don’t think you know that black lives matter.
Don’t shout at us that all lives matter. White lives are important, it is clear, the evidence is clear. We want black lives to matter now. Simple as that.
Holding continued the discussion after the feature film and doubled the importance of education in creating change.
