3.6 earthquake hits the eastern Gulf

People across the Bay Area woke up to the jolt of an earthquake early in the morning.

Parts of the Bay Area received a sudden early morning wake-up call on Saturday morning.

The USGS reported a 3.6-magnitude earthquake about a half mile northeast of El Cerrito at 3:39 a.m. Saturday.

People who live as far north as Vallejo, and as far south as the Mountain View area reported feeling the quake.

A Denny’s Diner near the epicenter sustained some roof damage.

Employees at El Cerrito Denny told KTVU that they saw parts of the roof collapse during the quake.

No major damage was done and no one on the Dennys was injured.
