New plea amid surge in demand for Airedale Hospital A&E
The local health chief has issued a new petition asking people to join hospital A&E units, including the emergency department at Airedale Hospital, only in genuine emergencies.
This follows a spike in people showing up to accident and emergency departments during the festival, with flu-like symptoms.
Dr James Thomas, Medical Director of the NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, said: Antibiotics.
“Self-care through rest and sleep, maintaining body temperature, staying hydrated, and taking adequate paracetamol can help.
“Signs of the flu that require urgent medical attention are sudden or worsening chest pain, difficulty breathing, especially at rest, or beginning to vomit blood.
