The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention currently ranks seven of Connecticut’s eight counties with high levels of COVID-19 community transmission.
Some health experts say the number of COVID-19 cases may have peaked this season.

Same for COVID-related deaths. This time last year, the state was averaging 25 to 30 deaths a day, a significant drop from the first wave of 2020.
Currently, the state is killing an average of 3 to 8 people a day.
“What changed last year was the introduction of Omicron. So both Omicron and Delta were competing for the host, and Omicron was very contagious compared to the previous one,” Dr. Anthony said. says.
Dr. Anthony said the situation is very different from a year ago, but COVID-19 is not over.
“What we’re still seeing is people are coming to hospitals and we’re still seeing people dying from COVID, so I want to say to people who think this is over, it’s not. No,” said Dr. Anthony.
