ECB Covid-19 cricket return requirements
Keep in mind the new procedures that we are starting from this weekend. We implement them with immediate effect and it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that we adhere to them at all times.

The ECB emphasizes that the social distance guidelines must be followed at all times. Specific playing advice is:
- Players must remain socially at all times (wicketkeepers & slipfielders at 1m +).
- Referees must not handle the ball at any point in the game and leave it by the stumps during breaks.
- Herd to clean their bat when they leave the playing field.
- A hygiene break should take place every six overs or every 20 minutes and should include hand disinfection and cleaning the ball.
- Bowlers may not hand over to the referee.
- Only one official is allowed in the scorer’s box.
- Social distance should always be maintained, including during parties and breaks.
- The ball must be returned immediately to the bowler and must not pass between players.
- Batters must walk in different running lines to ensure that they are not within 2m of the bowler or
- other batter. Lanes to be marked on the square.
- In accordance with current British government guidelines, clubs are not allowed to prepare food for participants. Individuals should bring their own food and drinks for tea or for exercise.
- Water bottles or other refreshment containers should not be shared.
- Participants must leave while maintaining social distance.
- Post-activity social gathering is permitted in accordance with current UK government guidelines on hospitality.
- One club representative / volunteer should be responsible for collecting and disinfecting shared equipment.
- Regular cleaning of equipment and the facility should take place, especially between finishing one group and starting the next group.
- Clubs should encourage all participants to report any infection from their household to the NHS Test and Trace system after using the facility to limit the spread of the virus.
