Magnitude 4.4 earthquake hits Sontpur in Assam

By India News Desk Today: A 4.4-magnitude earthquake hit Sontpur in Assam on Monday at around 8 am. There were no reports of damage.

According to the National Center of Seismology (NCS), the quake occurred at a depth of 15 km.

Taking to Twitter, the Nodal Earthquake Activity Monitoring Agency shared, “Earthquake with magnitude: 4.4, occurred on 29-05-2023, 08:03:35 IST, Latitude: 26.68 and Length: 92.35, Depth: 15 km, Area: Sontpur, Assam , India “.

Earthquake hits Andaman and Nicobar Islands

The National Center of Seismology reported that an earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale hit the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Monday at around 7:48 am.

The center stated that the residents felt tremors 137 kilometers east of Diglipur.

This came after an earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale occurred 70 km southeast of the city of Faizabad in Afghanistan on Sunday at around 10:19 am.

Earthquakes were also felt in parts of Pakistan, Srinagar and Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir and Delhi-NCR regions. Panicked people rushed out of their homes after the earthquake hit Jammu and Kashmir. Videos were shared from their homes showing ceiling fans vibrating.
