Bukayo Saka of Arsenal funds shelters for Turkish families affected by the earthquake

Arsenal and England striker Bukayo Saka funded the stay of Turkish families displaced by the February earthquake.

The 21-year-old, who scored his first professional hat-trick as England beat North Macedonia 7-0 in a Euro 2024 qualifier on Monday night, was working with charity Big Shoe to help those in need in Turkey. .

More than 50,000 people died after a 7.8-magnitude earthquake shook Turkey and Syria earlier this year, and more than two million people were displaced by the resulting damage.

A total of 26 families have benefited from Bukayo Saka’s funding to reside in Türkiye

Saka paid for the accommodation of 26 families directly affected by the disaster, and funded shelters in Hatay, Adiyaman, Kahramanmaras and Malatya, having also teamed up with Big Show to cover 120 pediatric surgeries in Nigeria last year.

“I saw the devastating news on social media and on television and knew immediately that I really wanted to help people affected by this tragedy,” said Saka.

“Anyone who has a roof over his head can consider himself lucky. From one day to the next, the catastrophe destroyed all that these people had through no fault of their own.
