Taipei (Taiwan News) – An abandoned old chrome building in Tainan, southern Taiwan, has become a pilgrimage to Instagrammers.

The terraced house, located next to Xinhua Golf Course in Xinhua District of Tainan, has become so crowded with bright green vines that Taiwanese Internet users have called it the “Hulk House”. Molly 888666, the Instagram user who visited the building in June, described it as “a pile of fried seaweed pancakes”.

Much of the building facade, which was built more than 43 years ago, is exposed to the elements. As the building was damaged by an earthquake and there were no windows or handrails, the property owner posted a sign warning visitors not to enter. However, many Instagrammers were spotted taking photos from inside the upper floors.

The elderly lady who owns the building, nicknamed Blaine (林), told FTV News that after her husband died, she had no money to finish building the building. She said that a lot of building materials were stolen, leaving nothing but bricks and cement.

The first floor of the structure suffered severe damage during the Kaohsiung earthquakes of 2010 and 2016. There is also a large landing of the building.

Xinhua chief Wu Chen Hsi (吳金喜) told the news station that many cars were damaged by debris falling from the building during the previous earthquake. Wu warned that the building had structural safety problems and that tourists should be careful when taking pictures around it.
