Denver (CBS4)– Fatal overdose associated with fentanyl is increasing in Denver. The fatal overdose associated with fentanyl increased by 282% compared to the same period last January to May.

Denver Department of Public Health and Environment and Denver Police are warning the public about fentanyl. This is a powerful synthetic opioid, up to 50 times more potent than heroin and 100 times more potent than morphine.

According to DDPHE, fentanyl-induced overdose occurs faster than other opioid-induced overdose and is difficult to stop.
