Today's Earthquake: 3.9 magnitude earthquake hits Sonbhadra in UP

Today's Earthquake: An earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale struck Sonbhadra district in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.

Seismic activity was reported around 3:49. 54 pm on June 2. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the epicenter was located at latitude 24.61 north, longitude 83.06 east and at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The earthquake, which was felt by residents of the Sonbadra area, prompted an immediate response from the local administration.

Initial reports indicate that the earthquake that struck the mineral-rich region of the state this afternoon has not caused any damage or casualties so far. More details are awaited.

It is important to note that another seismic activity was reported early this morning in Chandel district of Manipur. An earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale struck Chandel at around 2:38 am today. According to the National Seismological Center, the epicenter of the earthquake was at latitude 23.9 north, longitude 94.10 east, and at a depth of 77 kilometers.

No injuries have been reported so far. No damages have been detected yet.

The earthquake struck the state at a time when rivers were flowing above the danger level in the state, according to data from the Central Water Commission.

Likewise, NCS reported an earthquake measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale on May 28 at 6:43 am in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. According to the National Center for Statistics, the epicenter of the earthquake was at latitude 30.15 north and longitude 80.28 east, at a depth of 5 kilometers. The tremors were felt in Pithoragarh at 6:43 am.
