The most beautiful shows of Men's Fashion Week
Just at the start of summer, another European Fashion Month also took place with a series of menswear shows. The spring 2025 shows begin in London, travel to Italy (Florence for Pitti Uomo then Milan) and finally end in Paris. This season's biggest moments include Alessandro Michele's debut for Valentino with a Resort 2025 collection including both women's and men's wear, Pharrell's latest Louis Vuitton show, Martine Rose's Milan debut, and even more.
Below, discover the highlights of the spring 2025 men's shows in Europe.
Pharrells Louis Vuitton show emphasizes unity
If there's one thing we've learned from Skateboard P's tenure at Louis Vuitton so far, it's that he knows how to put on a show. Her SS25 show in Paris cemented that. Louis Vuitton has taken over the roof of La Maison de l'UNESCO, built in 1958 in the name of world peace. This venue, a testament to international unity and cultural diversity, was adorned with lush greenery and international flags, reflecting the collection's global mentality. On the catwalk, Louis Vuitton clothing and accessories exuded travel-worthy charm. Butter-colored suits were ready for business travel, while casual, shimmering coordinates seemed more suited to leisure activities. Aviator sunglasses meet duffle bags, suitcases and carry-on bags rendered in Louis Vuitton's iconic designs, refreshed for the new season.
Rick Owens goes to church
Unsurprisingly, Rick Owens remains a favorite among weirdos and freaks. While last season's collection was called “Porterville,” after Owens' small town, this season's collection was called “Hollywood,” the place where the designer found his people. Models walked in coordinated outfits in “biblical whites,” as he calls them, with varying hoods and headpieces. He also seemed to be thinking about the unity of humanity, inviting everyone and asking all the fashion schools in Paris to send their students and teachers to see who might want to march in “this white satin army of love “.
Alessandro Michele makes his debut at Valentino
Three months after being named creative director, Alessandro Michele debuted his first collection for Valentino (the same day Sabato De Sarno presented his Gucci spring 2025 collection). For Resort 2025, Michele showed 171 looks full of ’60s and ’70s glamour, ruffles, fur, prints, and chunky accessories. From the get-go, it’s clear that the designer is sticking to his maximalist, bohemian style, even at Valentino.
KidSuper takes us to the circus
In collaboration with Cirque du Soleil, the KidSuper show held everyone's attention for half an hour, defying convention and taking high-flying risks. Committing to an artistic vision like no other, Colm Dillane put on a theatrical show, continuing to bring all the drama by connecting the performing arts with fashion. The show saw a superb display of acrobatics and a scene directed by Alton Mason, who opened the show as a puppet moved across the stage. Each model came out as a different circus character, including one on stilts and a headless attraction. Meanwhile, each of the models wore a selection of the brand's latest pieces, showcasing iconic styles filled with vibrant colors and an eclectic array of prints and patchwork leather.
Prada is throwing a party
Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons have done it again. The mother and father of fashion came together to close out another show at Milan Fashion Week, and if we do say so ourselves, it was a party. For Spring Summer 2025, Prada and Simons did what they do best and evaluated traditional menswear archetypes with inspiring silhouettes and a luxurious touch. Called Closer, the collection mixes reality and imagination, asking us to question our perception of time and the objects that define our daily lives.
Martine Rose makes her debut in Milan
For Spring/Summer 2025, Martine Rose visited Milan Fashion Week for the very first time, a venue she described in her show notes as a traditional platform for the mainstream pursuit of beauty . But rather than adhering to this traditional beauty, Rose presented a collection that went against it. Taped-on prosthetic noses were visible on almost every model, their presence deliberately distorting the idea of Eurocentric beauty ideals. The first thing you see on people is often their noses, Rose told Vogue before the show, and it's often the first thing they change.
Charles Jeffrey celebrates 10 years of LOVERBOY
Charles Jeffrey started in a club but he is far from having hung up his dancing shoes. After spending the last few seasons in Milan, the Scottish designer returned to London, the city where LOVERBOY evolved from club night to fashion brand, for a show that took over the courtyard of Somerset House and ended with a set by Beth Ditto. In the show notes, Jeffrey explained that his tenth anniversary show was inspired by queer time, a cultural theory most associated with theorist Jack Halberstam, which posits that homosexuality not only shapes our sense and understanding of gender and sexuality, but also our experiences of time itself and our relationships with the past, present and future.
The University of Westminster looks to the future
As one of London's top fashion schools, the University of Westminster recently introduced the Class of 2024 for its Bachelor of Fashion Design programme. This year, 22 young designers presented their collections at the university's annual end-of-year student fashion show, giving us a glimpse into the future of fashion. Notable collections included Isabel Ealand, who presented a collection inspired by the drama and danger of Victorian circus performers; Polly Chens The Eye of Lovers; and Reece Sheiks' armored damsel.
