Author Nancy Levin visits The Bookworm of Edwards to talk about shadow work

On Tuesday, July 9 at 5:30 p.m., join Nancy Levin for a workshop on shadow work. Levin will join the audience in person via Zoom and guide participants through the workshop, using her recently published journal, “Embrace your Shadow to Find Your Light” as a guide. Tickets include a copy of the journal and light refreshments.

Shadow work involves exploring your unconscious mind to uncover the repressed and hidden parts of yourself. “The term ‘shadow’ in this particular context was coined by Swiss psychoanalyst Carl Jung,” Levin said. “Simply put, our shadow is all the parts of ourselves that we hide, deny, suppress, and don’t see in ourselves, including the qualities we don’t want to be and think we aren’t, as well as the qualities we would like to be but think we aren’t. Our shadow is the aspects we reject out of shame, fear, and disapproval, and it is a breeding ground for limiting beliefs and commitments. One of the gifts that shadow work offers us is the ability to make peace with all parts of ourselves and to powerfully choose the actions we take that will create the life we ​​most desire.”

Levin has applied shadow work in her own life, which has helped her navigate difficult times. “When I was an events director at Hay House Publishing, a position I held for 12 years, I had a front-row seat and behind-the-scenes access to all the authors and speakers, but their teachings didn’t really impact me until I went through my own crisis, which manifested in the collapse of my marriage,” Levin said. “It became the catalyst for me to embark on a deep inner journey of discovery about myself and all the people and processes I had access to.
