Evidence Exists That Imran Khan Conspired in Prison to Spread Anarchy, PM's Adviser Says

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah on Saturday alleged that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan was hatching plots from inside the jail to create another “political chaos” in the country.

Sanaullah, speaking on Geo News programme 'Naya Pakistan', said the PTI founder was not allowed by the court to hold political meetings in Adiala Jail.

“The founder of PTI is not allowed to make such plans to create chaos while he is in jail,” he said, adding that the evidence available with the authorities concerned strengthens the allegations of such planning going on in the jail.

The prime minister's aide, however, said the government has no audio or video evidence of such planning, “but those who are responsible and exercising their functions do.”

The former interior minister's statement came after leaders of the former ruling party said they were denied permission to meet the party's founder in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail, despite waiting outside the facility for a few hours earlier this week.

Speaking about the former ruling party's planned rally in Islamabad, the senior PML-N leader said the Imran-founded party's decision to hold a show of force in Muharram was inappropriate. “PTI wants to create political chaos through a public rally.”

He, however, called the revocation of the PTI's permission for the Islamabad rally an “administrative decision” and denied the government's influence in the decision.

It is pertinent to mention here that the PTI called off its rally in Islamabad earlier in the day after its NOC for the show of power in Tarnol was revoked by the chief commissioner of the federal capital.

Later, PTI leaders moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking contempt of court proceedings against the Islamabad administration for refusing to allow the rally.

Sanaullah, in today's programme, further claimed that foreign elements had supported the PTI in organising the May 9 riots last year to create chaos in the country.

“The enemy countries want to spread anarchy in Pakistan through PTI,” he added.

During the May 9, 2023 protests triggered by the arrest of the PTI founder, the miscreants targeted civilian and military installations, including Jinnah House and the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. The army declared May 9 as a “Black Day” and decided to try the protesters under the Army Act.

Sanaullah added that the evidence regarding the foreign aid received by the PTI could be made public if the federal cabinet takes a decision in this regard.
