Kaesang visits Jokowi's volunteer house in North Jakarta, following in his father's footsteps during regional elections?
Jakarta, Kompas.tv – Indonesian President Joko Widodo's youngest child, Kaesang Pangarep, visited a residential village in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta on Friday (5/7/2024). Kaesang visited the house of a Jokowi volunteer named Agus Hidayanto in Tanjung Priok after Friday prayers.
Kaesang has not made clear what his intentions are for blusukan ahead of the 2024 Jakarta legislative elections. Kaesang himself recently performed Friday prayers three times with Jakarta residents.
Kaesang visited Agus's house with DKI Jakarta PSI DPW Chairwoman Elva Farhi Qolbina and PSI Advisory Board Member Isyana Bagoes Oka. Kaesang's visit attracted the attention of the crowd.

Host Agus Hidayanto said Kaesang's visit was purely for friendship. Agus admitted that he had prompted Kaesang to explain the purpose of his visit, but Jokowi's son did not respond.
“We don't talk about politics or regional elections. Nothing. It's always normative,” Agus said on Friday (5/7).
“I tried to provoke him before and he didn't respond. 'Here, what does this have to do with the regional elections to increase the PSI?', 'No, it's just a friendship,' he (Kaesang) said.”
President Jokowi visited Agus's house in 2022. Agus suspects that Kaesang's actions are no different from his father's desire to maintain his friendship.
Regarding the issue of Kaesang's candidacy in the 2024 Jakarta regional elections, Agus believes that Gibran Rakabuming Raka's younger brother does not have enough experience. According to him, leading Jakarta is not easy and requires experience.
“Personally, I don't know yet (if Kaesang is fit). Because leading DKI is not easy, you need to have experience. Mas Gibran may be ready because he proved it in Solo. Solo has changed a lot,” Agus was quoted as saying. Kompas.id.
Rumors that Kaesang Pangarep's name will be included in the 2024 Jakarta legislative elections have strengthened after the Supreme Court (MA) changed the age limit for regional head candidates to a minimum of 30 years at the time of inauguration. This rule change accommodates Kaesang, who will only turn 30 in December 2024.
However, Kaesang has so far been reluctant to talk about his moves in the upcoming regional elections. Kaesang has only said he will give a surprise in August 2024.
