Ferguson wins BMW International Open for third European Tour title and seals British Open berth

MUNICH (AP) Ewen Ferguson won the BMW International Open by two strokes Sunday for his third European Tour title and earned a spot in the British Open being held in his native Scotland this month.

The 168th-ranked Ferguson smiled as he rolled both his shoulders before hitting the winning putt for a final-round 4-under 68 at Golfclub Mnchen Eichenried.

His other two titles came in 2022 at the Qatar Masters and ISPS Handa World Invitational, but the latter felt extra special because of the bonus prize that came with it.

Ferguson will now be on the pitch at Royal Troon in western Scotland, which is not far from his hometown of Glasgow.

In a tearful interview after his round, Ferguson said: The Open Championship is a tournament that everyone wants to play. I feel I can do well there.

After completing his imminent homecoming, Ferguson will also play in the Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick next week. The British Open takes place a week later.

Ferguson was tied with Jordan Smith going into the final round. Smith shot a 70 and tied for second place with David Micheluzzi (68).
