Jokowi hopes government transition to Prabowo will go smoothly
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi hopes that the government transition process will go smoothly. Jokowi will be replaced as president by the general chairman of the Gerindra party and Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto in October 2024.
“I hope for the support of the BPK (Financial Audit Agency) and all components of the nation to support the smooth running of this government transition. “Maintaining sustainability to advance our country, Indonesia,” Jokowi said in his speech at the presentation of the audit results report on the central government financial report 2023 at the Jakarta Convention Center, Senayan, Monday, June 8, 2024.
Jokowi believes that, as in his time, the government that will be led by Prabowo will always pay close attention to every recommendation of the BPK. “So that people's money is used well and managed in a transparent and responsible manner,” he said.
In his speech, Jokowi stressed the importance of continuing structural reforms to facilitate the government's work. The head of state asked the BPK to support the improvement of an accountable, flexible and results-oriented government ecosystem.

Prabowo and Jokowi's son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, did not specifically form a transition team in the process of changing government. The situation was different when the government changed from Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to Jokowi in 2014. After winning the 2014 presidential election, Jokowi and Jusuf Kalla formed a transition team.
Meanwhile, Prabowo has only formed a synchronization task force, composed of internal members of the Gerindra party. The task force is headed by the daily chairman of the Gerindra party DPP, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. Gerindra Secretary General Ahmad Muzani is the deputy head of the task force team. The members of the task force then include Thomas Djiwandono, Budisatrio Djiwandono and Prasetyo Hadi.
