The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, appreciated the Indonesian Financial Audit Agency (BPK RI) for its dedication and professionalism in carrying out the task of auditing state finances. The President also congratulated all levels of central and regional government that succeeded in obtaining the title of Fair Without Exceptions (WTP) this year.

I have often said that CAP is not an achievement, but CAP is an obligation for all of us, an obligation to use APBN well. “This is the people’s money, this is the state’s money, we must feel that every year it will definitely be audited, it will definitely be checked,” said President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo in his speech when receiving the Audit Results Report on the Central Government Financial Report (LHP LKPP) for the 2023 fiscal year and the Summary of the Results of the Half-Year Audit (IHPS) II 2023, at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Monday (8/7/2024).

The President stressed that it is mandatory to properly use, manage and report on the APBN and APBD.

In his speech, the president also highlighted the tumultuous global challenges, including geopolitics, trade wars and increasingly real climate change. This year, he added, global economic growth has slowed and several regions have experienced economic crisis. However, Indonesia's economy and politics remain stable, with economic growth of 5.11 percent in the quarter this year and inflation under control. He said all of this constitutes fundamental capital for the country's development.

However, to grow higher, to be more competitive with other countries, we need to be agile, fast and tactical. We need to be able to take advantage of every opportunity, to be able to take advantage of opportunities that are currently very limited. Therefore, responsibility and flexibility must be implemented in a balanced way. We must not chain ourselves to process-oriented procedural formulations. We need to be more courageous and focus more on results, on achievements that will benefit the population, on achievements that will bring progress to this country.

The President stressed the importance of structural reform to simplify regulations and bureaucratic procedures so that the government continues to be more effective and efficient. In addition, he continued, Indonesia is currently in an era of government transition. The President hopes that the BPK RI and all components of the nation will support the government transition in October 2024 to go smoothly.

I also hope for BPK's support to continue improving the government ecosystem, building a government that is accountable, flexible and always results-oriented. The current government, and I am sure that the government of President-elect Mr. Prabowo Subianto, will always pay close attention to every recommendation of BPK so that the people's money can be well used and managed in a transparent and accountable manner.

At the end of his speech, the President of the Republic of Indonesia asked ministers, heads of institutions and regional heads to immediately follow up and complete the recommendations of the BPK audit in order to improve the financial management of APBN and APBD.
