Manisha Koirala recalls being told off by a famous photographer for not wanting to wear a bikini: Jo mitti pighalne se | Bollywood News

Bollywood Actor Manisha Koirala, who continues to enjoy the success of his last work in Heeramandi by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, The actress recently opened up about a time early in her career when a famous photographer asked her to pose in a two-piece bikini. While the actress admitted that she often wears a bikini to swim, she didn't consider it necessary for the photoshoot and refused to wear it.

In an interview, she recounted the incident: “Very early in my career, I was asked to go and take pictures, and there was a very famous photographer. I went with my mother, and at first, this photographer told me things like, 'You're the next superstar and this and that.' Then he brought me a two-piece bikini and asked me to wear it. I told him, 'Sir, I wear this when I go to the beach or to swim, but if this is how I have to get into movies, I don't want this and I won't wear this.'”

After knowing about Manisha's inhibitions, the photographer made a remark to her. Recalling the same, Manisha said, “I told him that either you photograph me fully clothed or I am…” I remember he gave me a long talk. He said, “Jo mitti pighalne se sharmati ho uske murti kaise banaye (The clay that refuses to melt, how can I make a statue out of it)”. I have not forgotten that.”

During the conversation, Manisha admitted that this was the mentality of some people in the 90s. She also recalled that the same photographer had to shoot her later in her career when she had become a big star and he quickly bit back his words and told her, “Oh, I knew you were going to be a big star.” While Manisha was not happy with his behaviour, she also understood where he was coming from. “I didn’t want to be mean to the person, but their level of awareness was such. Their exposure was such, so they behaved like it,” she added.

Manisha played the pivotal role of Malikajaan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's debut web show Heeramandi and garnered much praise for her performance. Prior to the web show, she starred in Kartik Aaryan's Shehzada in 2023.
