5-star cornerback narrows finalists to Ducks, Miami and LSU
The recruiting success on both sides of the ball continues unabated for Dan Lanning's coaching staff. Oregon has been on a roll this summer and no one else seems to be able to keep up.
Five-star 2025 cornerback DJ Pickett of Zephyrhills, Florida, has eliminated Georgia from the race, narrowing his list to three schools: Oregon, Miami and LSU.

Pickett recently made official visits to Oregon on June 21, Miami on June 14 and LSU on May 31.
Oregon has a lot of resources and it’s a place where I think I can be successful. It’s far from home, but I would have less distractions. And it’s a chance to play early and everybody in the building, they’re just really cool people. They have the Nike connection and after school I could get more into the Nike business. They have all the resources, in my opinion. They’re focused on their business and they take the defensive end seriously. They’re prepared and they do everything right.

According to On3's Class of 2025 rankings, Pickett is the sixth-best player in the country. He is also considered the second-best cornerback and the best recruit to come out of the state of Florida.
Pickett was a two-way star in high school and gained national attention as a result. In his final season on offense, he caught 52 passes for 1,033 yards and 15 touchdowns. On defense, he had 31 tackles and one interception.
As a sophomore, Pickett racked up 886 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on offense, and continued to show his versatility on defense with 39 tackles and four interceptions.
Oregon recently landed a commitment from Dorian Brew in the Class of 2025. He's also a five-star cornerback from Conroe, Texas. You have to wonder if that will affect Pickett's decision to come to Eugene.
Pickett will make his college decision on July 17, leaving just 10 days until another potential five-star recruit joins the Ducks.
