Jakarta, KOMPAS.com – President Joko Widodo releases humanitarian aid for Papua New Guinea and Afghanistan on Monday (8/7/2024).
The aid sent from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta was worth a total of IDR 35.5 billion.
“Saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim“I am sending humanitarian aid to Papua New Guinea and Afghanistan,” he said. Jokowi in his speech.
The President said that on 24 May 2024, a landslide occurred in Enga Province, Papua New Guinea.

Earlier, on October 23, 2023, an earthquake occurred in Afghanistan, causing many casualties and refugees.
Therefore, according to the President, Indonesia must provide assistance to the people of Papua New Guinea and Afghanistan.
“That is why we will send humanitarian aid today to our brothers and sisters who have been affected by disasters, in Papua New Guinea and Afghanistan,” Jokowi said.
“The aid we have sent to Papua New Guinea is Rp18 billion, in the form of medicines, supplementary food, hygiene kits. And also the aid to Afghanistan which includes 10 types of aid items worth Rp17.5 billion,” he said.
The president hopes that the aid sent on Monday can ease the burden on the people of Papua New Guinea and Afghanistan.

Furthermore, the President advised the delegation providing humanitarian aid to do its job to the best of its ability.
“Finally, I order the delegation carrying out this humanitarian mission to maintain their trust as best as possible, maintain security during their service, and return safely to their country,” Jokowi said.
