According to Forbes, the RockYou2024 compilation consists of a previous credential database known as RockYou 2021, which contained 8.4 million passwords in 2021. The new database adds approximately 1.5 billion new passwords, bringing the number to a staggering 9,948,575,739. The database reportedly contains passwords leaked from 2021 to 2024. Forbes reports that it is estimated that the latest credential file contains entries from a massive database totaling 4,000, spanning at least 20 years of stolen credentials. In essence, the RockYou2024 leak is a compilation of real passwords used by individuals around the world.
