Get active at The Forks with free activities all summer long
Winnipeg residents are encouraged to spend time outdoors and The Forks is providing that opportunity as part of the ongoing Play at The Forks initiative.
The project includes table tennis, basketball and free workouts. This summer, Workout Wednesdays were added. There will be weekly workouts at CN Field on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. from July 10 through the end of August, led by Sport Manitoba.
Until the end of August, table tennis demonstrations and workshops are organized by the Manitoba Table Tennis Association every Thursday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
We love seeing people connect and use the site in active and exciting ways, and the Play at The Forks initiative encourages just that, said Sara Stasiuk, Chief Executive Officer, The Forks North Portage in a press release. Plus, you might just find me on the field shooting from downtown.
Play at The Forks was a hit for the second year as people enjoyed the free activities around the CN Stage and Field. After becoming so popular, table tennis moved indoors to The Forks for the winter, where it has been played daily ever since.
Wednesday workouts are free and people can register at Sport Manitoba websiteThe basketball and table tennis events are held throughout the summer and are free to the public.
According to The Forks, when the CN Stage and Field is booked for a major event, the play elements are stored and returned to the site after the event.
