Will world champions India travel to the Maldives?

The recently crowned T20 world champion Indian cricket team has been invited by the country's tourism association and marketing and public relations body to celebrate its victory in the Maldives.
The Indian team led by Rohit Sharma lifted the trophy in Barbados after beating South Africa by seven runs in the final on June 29.
“Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) in collaboration with the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) has extended a special and open invitation to the Indian national cricket team,” the two organizations said in a joint statement.
Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and Managing Director of MMPRC, and Ahmed Nazeer, Secretary General of MATI, said they look forward to receiving the team, which returned to India last Thursday.
It was welcomed by delirious fans in both Delhi and Mumbai, where a victory parade with hundreds of thousands of supporters also took place.
“We would be honored to host you and ensure your stay is filled with unforgettable moments, relaxation and tailor-made experiences,” Shiuree and Nazeer said in the joint statement.
According to them, the invitation also emphasises the strong and long-standing cultural and sporting ties between the Maldives and India.
“It would be a huge honour for the Maldives to welcome the Indian cricket team and share in the joy of their triumph,” Shiuree said.
“We look forward to hosting them and providing them with the perfect environment to create lasting memories of their victory celebration,” he added.
The team is currently on a break. Their next international assignment is a six-match limited-overs series against Sri Lanka, starting on July 27. The series consists of three ODIs and as many T20 Internationals.
