Mike Corbett Joins Sun Devil Hockey Coaching Staff
TEMPLE Sun Devil HockeyHead coach Greg Power announces the hiring of Mike Corbett as an assistant coach in a move that bolsters ASU's bench ahead of its inaugural season in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC). Corbett will officially join the Arizona State team on Monday, July 8.
Corbett recently completed his third season as an assistant coach with the Quinnipiac Bobcats. He was instrumental in the Bobcats’ postseason success during his tenure, including the 2023 National Championship. In his other two campaigns in Hamden, the team won an NCAA Tournament game and reached the NCAA Regional Finals.
“This is a great day for our program. Mike is a great coach, great recruiter and an incredible human being. His experience and success speak for themselves and will truly help our program as we head into the NCHC,” said Sun Devil Hockey Head Coach Greg Krachten. “Mike is someone I've always wanted to work with since we went to Division I. His recent success at Quinnipiac “Helping them get to two Elite Eights and win a National Championship is something I know he wants to bring here to ASU. We got better today…much better.”
In his final three seasons at Quinnipiac, Corbett helped the Bobcats to a 93-21-8 record, winning back-to-back-to-back Cleary Cups as the ECAC's Regular Season Champion. The Bobcats led the nation in scoring defense in two of Corbett's seasons at Quinnipiac and fielded a top-four scoring offense in each of the last two seasons.

Prior to Hamden, he was an assistant coach at Robert Morris, where he coached three AHA All-League selections, two All-Rookie selections and the league's Rookie, Defenseman and Co-Player of the Year.
Prior to Robert Morris, Corbett was the head coach at the University of Alabama-Huntsville for eight seasons. He was responsible for rebuilding the program after it was shut down in 2011, producing three playoff berths, the program's first playoff win and a win over a top-10 opponent, and multiple all-league selections. Under Corbett's leadership, the program had 46 All-WCHA Academic selections, upgraded locker room facilities with two renovations, and built a state-of-the-art weight room.
Corbett's first experience in college hockey was as an assistant/associate head coach at Air Force, where he spent 10 seasons and won five tournament championships and subsequent NCAA Tournament bets. He coached and recruited the only Hobey Baker Hat Trick finalist in Air Force history, along with four All-Americans, three Players of the Year and 19 All-Conference selections.
In addition to his years of coaching at the collegiate level, Corbett also has experience with USA Hockey, where he coached the National Festivals for 15, 16 and 17 year olds for 23 years. In August, he will be heading to Switzerland to become assistant coach of the U17 USA Five Nations Team.
Corbett earned his bachelor's degree in management from the University of Denver in 1996. As a senior, he received the Daniels School of Business Management Leadership Award and in 1998 he earned a Master of Science in Management. The two-time Denver alternate captain was also a finalist for the NCAA Hockey Humanitarian Award in 1997.
