Actor Darshan's request for home-cooked meal, books in jail denied by court
Jailed Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa request for home-cooked meals, A Karnataka court on Thursday dismissed his plea seeking remand in custody for a bed and books. Darshan is currently lodged in Parappana Agrahara jail in Bengaluru in connection with a murder case.
The 24th ACMM Court dismissed Darshan's plea for permission to receive home-cooked food during his stay in jail, as well as his requests for a bed, books and paper, stating that he would not be provided with any special facilities at Parappana Agrahara Jail.
Darshan will be given the same food as the other prisoners.
Darshan's lawyer has announced plans to appeal the lower court's decision to the Karnataka High Court.
The actor was arrested On June 11, the actor was arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder of 33-year-old Renukaswamy. The victim, a fan of Darshan, had allegedly sent obscene messages to the actor's co-star and friend Pavithra Gowda, who was also arrested in connection with the case.
Members of Darshan's fan club allegedly kidnapped, tortured and killed Renukaswamy, with the actor allegedly taking part in the attack.
Renukaswamy's body was found near a storm drain adjacent to an apartment complex in Bengaluru's Sumanahalli area on June 9. An autopsy revealed evidence horrible torture.
