Minnesota doctor urges parents to vaccinate their children
MINNEAPOLIS — Any parent will tell you that getting their kids ready for a new school year is no easy task. Buying new clothes, new backpacks, pencils and pens…these are all part of the preparations that go into preparing for the first day in the classroom.
A group of Minnesota doctors wants to add one more thing to the list: vaccinations.
The Minnesota Medical Association (MMA) has three Recently confirmed measles cases “Children should receive two doses each of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccines, the first between the ages of 12-15 months and the second between the ages of four and six,” the MMA said in a news release on Wednesday to highlight the importance of vaccinating children in preventing outbreaks in schools.
“No matter your age, it's important to talk to your doctor to make sure you and your family are up to date on vaccinations,” said MMA President Laurel Reese, M.D. “Diseases like measles are making a comeback due to low vaccination rates, diseases we thought we had conquered years ago.”
